The Universal Judo Challenge is Coming!

The Universal Judo Challenge will be held on August 27 in San Antonio, TX.

This is a fighter’s tournament. The competition is STANDING only, no ground work. It is loaded with action. EVERY division is a round robin including divisions up to eight people. Everyone gets to fight everyone else in their division. All matches are ONE minute in duration, guaranteeing lots of action and excitement.

The entry packet and the results from last year’s event are attached.

NATIONAL PRESIDENTS CUP:  May 13 (postmarked) is the deadline date for mail in entries.  They must be postmarked 5/13 to avoid late entry fee’s.  On line registration is still available until 5/31.  Please note that your date of birth, citizenship and rank must be verified in the database before you can register on line. You can fax or scan/email this information to the National Office, fax 719-866-4733 or kevin.wagoner@usajudo.us .  Please allow one business day for processing and they will only be processed during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, mountain standard time.
U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS:  May 14 (postmarked)  is the first deadline date for mail in entries for the US Open.  On line registration is not available for this event.  Don’t miss this opportunity and pay extra fee’s!!

Rick Hawn, 2004 Judo Olympian, fought May 7, 2011 for the Bellator Season 4 welter weight title. Hawn lost a controversial split decision (28-29) to Jay Hieron in the mixed martial arts competition. Hawn’s success this season is a strong indicator of how judo athletes are starting to make their mark in the MMA.
